New AmeriCorps Crew

Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity is thrilled to welcome this outstanding crew of AmeriCorps members to our staff and the community! This team will be with us through July of 2024, with the exception of Monica whose term ends in December of 2023.

Monica Salazar, Construction Crew Leader, AmeriCorps
Monica is from Southern California and was raised between there and the east coast. She studied at a few different colleges and explored a couple different majors before graduating from the University of Washington, Tacoma in winter 2023 with a degree in Sustainable Development. Monica joined AmeriCorps in the spring of 2023 with “hopes to be a part of a community that works to make resources accessible and understandable for everyone from staff members to volunteers and homeowners. To really enjoy the day to day of building comfortable environments where people can find themselves at home.”

Tyler Grasso, Construction Crew Leader, AmeriCorps
Tyler comes from Mexico, New York. He is a May 2022 graduate of the State University of New York at Geneseo, where he received a degree in Communication and Anthropology. Knowing that he wanted to participate in direct-service volunteer work and explore a new place at the same time, Tyler set his sights on Habitat for Humanity’s AmeriCorps program. He says that he is “excited to do some good, one nail at a time!”

Catherine Rousculp, Construction Crew Leader, AmeriCorps
Catherine grew up in Los Alamos, New Mexico and graduated from the University of Utah in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. There, she worked as an undergraduate researcher in a lab studying adrenal cancer at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. During her time at Utah, she also volunteered around the community with the Rotaract Club, serving on the Board as Secretary and then President during her final two years. Catherine is excited to be a Construction Crew Leader and part of making tangible change in a new community. After serving with Habitat AmeriCorps, Catherine plans to attend graduate school, pursue a PhD in Biomedical Sciences and continue helping the community through research.

Rosia Aning, Homeowner Services Coordinator, AmeriCorps
Rosia was born and raised in Ghana, West Africa. She graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in Law Diversity and Justice: Immigration and Human Rights. Rosia loves learning about different languages and connecting with people from different cultures as well.

Lukas Bruihler, Volunteer Services Coordinator, AmeriCorps
Lukas is coming to Tacoma from Northfield, Minnesota after graduating from Grinnell College in 2023 with a degree in Philosophy. He is excited to learn how nonprofits work from the inside out, and serving with Habitat seems like the perfect fit for him. Lukas hopes to develop his skills and learn how best to make a positive impact on the world. He’s eager to see a mix of office work and hands-on construction.
