Youth Programs

Youth Programs exists to capture the imagination, energy, and hope of young people worldwide ages 5 to 25 in order to productively and responsibly involve them as leaders in the work of Habitat for Humanity.

The young people of Habitat for Humanity are teaching the world that it is not acceptable for families to live in substandard housing or to have no home at all.

Through Habitat for Humanity, young people have the opportunity to put faith into action, to work in partnership with a diverse group of people and to make a positive difference in their own communities.  Working with Habitat is one of the best opportunities young   people can find for such experiences.

You do not have to be in high school or older to volunteer. In Pierce County, people under the age of 16 are restricted from helping build or working at the ReStore, but there are other ways that you can help.

• Create greeting cards for families, donors, and volunteers

• Make a welcome basket for a homeowner family

• Come up with your own ideas!

• Design a T-shirt to be sold at a Habitat event

• Make wooden key holders, tool boxes, benches, etc. to donate to the affiliate or a homeowner family

• Help fold and stuff newsletters or mailings

• Tutor younger children of Habitat homeowners

• Make lunch for the worksite volunteers

• Check in volunteers on Saturday on the worksite
