The Family Partner program is one of the most satisfying volunteer experiences you could imagine. Meet a family with a great housing need, help them gather the hours required, partner with them as their house is built, and finally see the end product: a great family you’ve come to know now installed in a house. There is a distinct beginning, middle, and end, and the satisfaction you feel when a family you know and care about has made a dream happen, THAT is what it’s all about.
- Prior experience with Habitat or homebuilders. We will teach you everything you need to know.
- Knowledge about mortgages or construction. Come join us and learn new things!
- Confidence that you get along with every sort of person. We will get to know you and try to match
you with a family we think you will have reasonable success relating to.
- Desire to get to know a family that may be different from you
- A willingness to attend monthly Family Partner meetings (7-8 pm the first Tuesday of every
month) and monthly meetings with your assigned family.
- A desire to see your assigned family succeed and support them through the process
Family Partners are a support, advocate, and friend of the families Habitat serves. We depend on Family Partners to get to know a Habitat family and act as a liaison between the family and the office, helping the family make homeownership and all its attendant detailsincluding financial literacy classes, sweat equity hours, carpet and paint selectionsa successful reality. And the Office of Family Services and the Family Partner Team is there to help you all along the way.
