Lutheran Volunteer Corps is a year-long national volunteer service program for people seeking to unite faith, social justice, intentional community, and practice simple and sustainable living. Volunteers are matched with non-profit organizations in ten metropolitan areas across the United States. Volunteers at Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity work full-time in Volunteer Services and the ReStore. For more information, please visit the LVC website.
Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity, in partnership with the Corporation for National and Community Services, provides a service opportunity available to diverse ages and backgrounds. Members help our Habitat affiliate develop our capacity to build more houses by taking on crucial roles in the ReStore development.
While in service, Habitat for Humanity VISTA members receive an annual living allowance and health insurance. Upon successful completion of the program, participants receive their choice of a $1,200 stipend or a $4,725 education award.
To apply to Tacoma/Pierce County, you must possess a college degree. You must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national or a lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.

AmeriCorps members serve an 11-month term constructing houses, working in Family Services, and working with Church Relations at Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity. While in service, AmeriCorps members receive a living allowance and insurance. An education award is granted upon completion of a successful term of service. Opportunities are available to adults age 18 or older who possess a high school diploma or GED. Previous construction, community service and/or leadership experience is helpful but not required for acceptance into this program.
• Age 18 or older
• A U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident
• Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalency
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• A commitment to service and community involvement
• Professionalism
• An interest in teaching or training others
• A willingness to learn construction, family services, and/or church relations
• A willingness to work with diverse backgrounds
• Previous experience is not necessary
• A living allowance (determined each year)
• Health care coverage, including dental
• Federal loan forbearance on qualified student loans
• Upon successful completion of a full term of service, eligible members may receive an education award in the amount of $4,725.
• Leadership and other training opportunities are provided.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program engages volunteers 55 years and older in addressing critical community needs while providing a quality volunteer experience that both enriches the lives of the volunteers and those they serve. RSVP is a program of the national Senior Corps, supported by the federal Corporation for National and Community Service.
RSVP volunteers are eligible to receive limited financial assistance for transportation as well as secondary accident and liability coverage while volunteering

The Internship Program at Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity would like to provide:
• An educational experience for students
• Strengthen Habitat’s capacity by supporting staff to complete time-sensitive projects
• Improve Habitat’s partnerships with area colleges and universities.
Habitat expects that candidates will find a true learning experience. Our affiliate is dedicated to creating a successful internship program.
