Interested in Owning a Habitat Home?
Meet the following criteria:
- Live or work in Pierce County for the past 12 months
- Need: Is your current housing unsafe or overcrowded? Does your landlord refuse to make repairs, or are you paying more than 30% of your income on housing?
- Partnership: Are you willing to work for 500 hours to help build your home?
- Income: Do you meet the following income guidelines?

If you answered yes to all of the above, you may want to attend an application meeting.
- Call the office to find out when the next meeting will be held.
- At the meeting, you will be asked to pay a $20 credit report fee (non-refundable) and to submit copies of identification paperwork.
The Application Process
Attend a REQUIRED application meeting:
- During the meeting you will learn more detailed information about applying with Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity (T/PC - HFH). Please bring an interpreter if you need one.
- To apply, you will need to turn in a $20 credit report fee (non-refundable)and identification paperwork.
- If you are declined based on credit history or heavy debt burden, you will receive a copy of your credit report and given an opportunity to explain the items found there.
Financial Review meeting:
- If the initial information you provide looks okay, the office will set up an interview for a review of your finances.
Home Visit:
- If it is determined you may be able to afford a Habitat for Humanity home, a home visit will be arranged.
- The purpose of the home visit is to assess your current living conditions.
The entire application process may take up to 4 months.
